WHEREAS, No words can soften the pain of losing a loved one, | ||
but memories of a life well lived may help to comfort those saddened | ||
by the death of Hilda Duran Tirres of El Paso on January 6, 2019, at | ||
the age of 88; and | ||
WHEREAS, A native of El Paso, the former Hilda Duran was born | ||
on October 4, 1930; she attended Ysleta High School, where she was | ||
named Who's Who in PE in the school yearbook and exhibited great | ||
musical talent as a member of the band and the drum corps; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mrs. Tirres enjoyed the love and support of her | ||
husband, Ramon, whom she had known since childhood, and they shared | ||
a rewarding marriage that spanned more than six decades; she took | ||
great pride in their children, Anna, Ramon, Daisy, Rene, and | ||
Suzanne, and with the passing years she had the pleasure of seeing | ||
her family grow to include 10 grandchildren and 11 | ||
great-grandchildren; and | ||
WHEREAS, A devout Catholic, Mrs. Tirres was a devoted | ||
congregant and volunteer at her church; she worked as the secretary | ||
at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic School and later served in a | ||
number of roles with San Elizario Independent School District; in | ||
addition, she was instrumental in the operation of her family's | ||
farm, and in her leisure hours, she delighted in cheering on the | ||
Dallas Cowboys; and | ||
WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to her family and her faith, Hilda | ||
Tirres earned the lasting respect and admiration of all who were | ||
privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Hilda Duran Tirres and | ||
extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her | ||
husband, Ramon Tirres Sr.; to her children, Anna Fuentes and her | ||
husband, Jesus, Suzanne Horan, Ramon Tirres Jr. and his wife, Rita, | ||
and Rene Tirres and his wife, Sandra; to her grandchildren and | ||
great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives and friends; and, | ||
be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Hilda | ||
Tirres. |
