WHEREAS, Civic-minded students from across the Lone Star | ||
State are gathering in Austin on April 17, 2013, to celebrate High | ||
School Republicans of Texas Day at the State Capitol; and | ||
WHEREAS, Founded in 2012, the High School Republicans of | ||
Texas is a new auxiliary group of the Republican Party of Texas and | ||
the official statewide Teen Age Republicans organization; with | ||
chapters in metropolitan areas across Texas, the group is working | ||
to identify and coordinate with existing high school Republican | ||
groups and to assist in the founding of new clubs; and | ||
WHEREAS, Members of the HSRT gain a hands-on understanding of | ||
the political process by partnering with their local parties and | ||
volunteering for campaigns during the general election; moreover, | ||
the organization offers young conservative Texans a platform from | ||
which to voice their opinions, and it helps them develop and | ||
communicate their views and ideals to their peers and others; and | ||
WHEREAS, Through efforts to provide its members direct | ||
experience with the political system, the High School Republicans | ||
of Texas has helped shape a more dynamic and engaged population of | ||
young Texans; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby recognize April 17, 2013, as High School | ||
Republicans of Texas Day at the State Capitol and extend a warm | ||
welcome to the members of the organization who are visiting on this | ||
day. | ||
