WHEREAS, The members of the West Baytown Civic Association | ||
are celebrating the 35th anniversary of the organization's founding | ||
in 2023; and | ||
WHEREAS, Established in 1988, the West Baytown Civic | ||
Association seeks to foster community engagement and implement | ||
positive change within Baytown's Historic West End, previously | ||
known as Old Baytown; the organization has given back to the area | ||
through a variety of civic projects and initiatives, ranging from | ||
murals and neighborhood cleanups to support for bike patrols and | ||
increased police visibility; and | ||
WHEREAS, The WBCA has further contributed to its community by | ||
helping to sponsor a number of events, including National Night Out | ||
and the Day of the Dead Festival; moreover, the organization has | ||
donated funds to local schools and assisted area families with | ||
holiday donations; WBCA members benefit from the able leadership of | ||
its board of directors, which includes president Fred Aguilar, vice | ||
president Agustin Loredo III, secretary Eva Benavides, and Baytown | ||
City Council member Laura Alvarado; and | ||
WHEREAS, The West Baytown Civic Association has long played | ||
an important role in the vitality of the Baytown community, and the | ||
organization is indeed worthy of recognition on this notable | ||
milestone; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby commemorate the 35th anniversary of the West | ||
Baytown Civic Association and extend to all those associated with | ||
the organization sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it | ||
further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for the association as an expression of high regard by the | ||
Texas House of Representatives. |
