WHEREAS, Senior Officer David Gonzalez retired from the | ||
Corpus Christi Police Department on January 29, 2021, drawing to a | ||
close an outstanding career in law enforcement that spanned 35 | ||
years; and | ||
WHEREAS, A veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, David Gonzalez | ||
was hired by the Corpus Christi Police Department in August 1985; | ||
after attending the police academy and completing his field | ||
training, he was assigned to the patrol division; through the | ||
years, he served the department in numerous capacities, including | ||
as a field training officer, as a member of the department's SWAT | ||
team, and as an investigator in the narcotics and vice division; he | ||
also served on joint task forces with the DEA and FBI and with the | ||
U.S. Secret Service Dignitary Protection Detail; he retired as an | ||
investigator with the organized crime unit; and | ||
WHEREAS, Officer Gonzalez has been the recipient of numerous | ||
honors over the course of his tenure; in addition to receiving a | ||
departmental commendation for his contributions to the Internet | ||
Crimes Against Children program, he has been recognized by the DEA, | ||
FBI, U.S. Secret Service, and U.S. Attorney's Office for the | ||
Southern District of Texas; and | ||
WHEREAS, Through his skill, professionalism, and deep | ||
commitment to public safety, David Gonzalez has earned the lasting | ||
respect of his colleagues and fellow citizens alike, and he may | ||
indeed reflect with pride on his contributions; now, therefore, be | ||
it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby congratulate Senior Officer David Gonzalez on | ||
his retirement from the Corpus Christi Police Department and extend | ||
to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Officer Gonzalez as an expression of high regard by the | ||
Texas House of Representatives. | ||
