WHEREAS, For more than 90 years, Texas Southern University | ||
has played an important role in higher education in the Lone Star | ||
State, and while the school currently offers baccalaureate, | ||
master's, and doctoral degree programs in numerous schools, it does | ||
not have a divinity program or a school of religion; now, therefore, | ||
be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the 86th Legislature of the State of Texas | ||
hereby direct the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to | ||
conduct a study on the creation of a divinity program, from | ||
undergraduate to doctoral degrees, at Texas Southern University | ||
with a goal to establish a program before the start of the 87th | ||
regular legislative session; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That the secretary of state forward an official | ||
copy of this resolution to the chair of the Texas Higher Education | ||
Coordinating Board. |
