BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Chapter 6, Civil Practice and Remedies Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 6.004 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 6.004. SCHOOL DISTRICTS EXEMPT FROM SECURITY FOR COURT | ||
COSTS AND APPEAL BOND. A school district may institute and | ||
prosecute suits without giving security for cost and may appeal | ||
from judgment without giving supersedeas or cost bond. | ||
SECTION 2. Section 6.004, Civil Practice and Remedies Code, | ||
as added by this Act, applies only to a suit or appeal filed on or | ||
after the effective date of this Act. A suit or appeal filed before | ||
the effective date of this Act is governed by the law as it existed | ||
immediately before the effective date of this Act, and that law is | ||
continued in effect for that purpose. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. | ||
