relating to the provision of home-taught driver education courses | ||
by state agencies. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 521.205, Transportation Code, is amended | ||
by adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: | ||
(e) A state agency may not develop or provide a driver | ||
education course, including course materials, under this section | ||
directly or through contract. | ||
SECTION 2. The change in law made by Section 521.205, | ||
Transportation Code, as amended by this Act, applies only to a | ||
driver education course approved under that section for which | ||
materials are purchased on or after the effective date of this Act. | ||
A course for which materials are purchased before the effective | ||
date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the date course | ||
materials were purchased, and that law is continued in effect for | ||
that purpose. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
