relating to the appeal of an indefinite suspension of a municipal | ||
firefighter or police officer. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 143.120(c), Local Government Code, is | ||
amended to read as follows: | ||
(c) In its decision, the commission shall state whether the | ||
suspended fire fighter or police officer is: | ||
(1) permanently dismissed from the fire or police | ||
department; | ||
(2) temporarily suspended from the department, for a | ||
period not to exceed 90 calendar days; or | ||
(3) restored to the person's former position or status | ||
in the department's classified service. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
