relating to the disclosure by a local government officer of certain | ||
gifts accepted as a guest. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 176.003(a-1), Local Government Code, is | ||
amended to read as follows: | ||
(a-1) A local government officer is not required to file a | ||
conflicts disclosure statement in relation to a gift accepted by | ||
the officer or a family member of the officer if the gift is: | ||
(1) given by a family member of the person accepting | ||
the gift; or | ||
(2) a political contribution as defined by Title 15, | ||

SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act to Section | ||
176.003(a-1), Local Government Code, applies only to the disclosure | ||
of a gift accepted on or after the effective date of this Act. A | ||
gift accepted before the effective date of this Act shall be | ||
disclosed in accordance with the law in effect when the gift was | ||
accepted, and the former law is continued in effect for that | ||
purpose. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
