A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 15-78-60, SOUTH CAROLINA CODE OF LAWS, 1976, RELATING TO EXCEPTIONS TO WAIVER OF IMMUNITY, SO AS TO INCLUDE EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 15-78-60 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding an appropriately number item at the end to read:

"(_)    an operator or driver of an Emergency Medical Vehicle as defined by Section 56-5-170(A)(3), while operating or driving the Emergency Medical Vehicle in providing emergency services, unless the vehicle is operated or driven in a grossly negligent manner."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect July 1, 2013, and applies to all actions filed on or after this date.
