AN ACT

 

1Amending the act of December 18, 1984 (P.L.1004, No.204),
2entitled "An act extending benefits to police chiefs or heads
3of police departments of political subdivisions of the
4Commonwealth who have been removed from bargaining units by
5the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board," further providing
6for salary of nonunion police officers.

7The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
8hereby enacts as follows:

9Section 1. Section 1 of the act of December 18, 1984 (P.L.

101004, No.204), entitled "An act extending benefits to police
11chiefs or heads of police departments of political subdivisions
12of the Commonwealth who have been removed from bargaining units
13by the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board," is amended to read:

14Section 1. Salary of nonunion police officers.

15(a) General rule.--Except in cities of the first and second 
16class, the chief, superintendent or commissioner of police and 
17other ranking officers in a political subdivision of the 
18Commonwealth who [have been removed from] are not members of 
19bargaining units under the act of June 24, 1968 (P.L.237, 
20No.111), referred to as the Policemen and Firemen Collective 

1Bargaining Act, [by rulings of the Pennsylvania Labor Relations 
2Board] shall receive not less than the same dollar increase 
3including fringe benefits excluding overtime and festive holiday 
4pay as received by the highest ranking police officer 
5participating in the bargaining unit.

6(b) Definition.--As used in this section, the term 
7"bargaining unit" means a collective bargaining unit as provided 
8under the Policemen and Firemen Collective Bargaining Act.

9Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
