AN ACT

Amending Title 23 (Domestic Relations) of the Pennsylvania

2

Consolidated Statutes, further providing for commencement of

3

proceedings.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

5

hereby enacts as follows:

6

Section 1.  Section 6106(f) and (g) of Title 23 of the

7

Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes are amended to read:

8

§ 6106.  Commencement of proceedings.

9

(f)  Service by sheriff.--If the court so orders, the sheriff

11

or other designated agency or individual shall serve the

12

petition and order within 24 hours.

13

(g)  Service of petition and orders.--The petition and orders

14

shall be served upon the defendant, and orders shall be served

15

upon the police departments and sheriff with appropriate

16

jurisdiction to enforce the orders. Orders shall be [promptly]

17

served on the police and sheriff within 24 hours. Failure to

18

serve shall not stay the effect of a valid order.

Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
