| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Memorializing the Congress of the United States to support full |
2 | funding for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. |
3 | WHEREAS, The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has a proud history |
4 | of supporting our nation's military; and |
5 | WHEREAS, The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will continue its |
6 | critical role as part of the supplier base for the F-35 Joint |
7 | Strike Fighter (F-35); and |
8 | WHEREAS, The F-35 program creates advanced-technology jobs |
9 | that build a highly skilled work force essential to our national |
10 | security and economic prosperity in Pennsylvania; and |
11 | WHEREAS, The members of our armed services need the latest |
12 | technology supporting them as they protect our nation and ensure |
13 | peace around the world; and |
14 | WHEREAS, There is currently discussion in Congress about |
15 | continuing full funding and production of the F-35; and |
16 | WHEREAS, Threats to peace and our national interests are |
17 | continuing to emerge; and |
18 | WHEREAS, The F-35 is the most advanced fighter aircraft ever |

1 | built and is needed to replace the aging fleet of military |
2 | aircraft that have been in use for 30 years; and |
3 | WHEREAS, The F-35 will not only provide needed support for |
4 | our nation's military but will also strengthen our international |
5 | alliances and ensure the success of our peacekeeping missions; |
6 | and |
7 | WHEREAS, The F-35 also plays a key role in our nation's and |
8 | the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's economy, responsible for |
9 | nearly 127,500 direct and indirect jobs nationwide, including |
10 | more than 1,000 in Pennsylvania and more than $65 million in |
11 | economic impact in Pennsylvania alone; and |
12 | WHEREAS, The F-35 supports more than 900 suppliers across the |
13 | country, including places like Teletronics in Bucks County, |
14 | Pennsylvania; and |
15 | WHEREAS, The United States has been investing in the |
16 | production of the F-35 for more than a decade and will lose the |
17 | benefits of this investment if full funding and planned |
18 | production are not continued; therefore be it |
19 | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the |
20 | Commonwealth of Pennsylvania memorialize the United States |
21 | Congress to recognize the importance of the F-35 Joint Strike |
22 | Fighter to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the United States |
23 | and our allies around the world by supporting full funding for |
24 | the F-35 program; and be it further |
25 | RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to |
26 | the presiding officers of each house of Congress and to each |
27 | member of Congress from Pennsylvania. |
