| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Designating the week of May 15 through 21, 2011, as "Emergency |
2 | Medical Services Week" and May 18, 2011, as "Emergency |
3 | Medical Services for Children (EMSC) Day" in Pennsylvania. |
4 | WHEREAS, Emergency medical services are a vital public |
5 | service; and |
6 | WHEREAS, The members of emergency medical services teams are |
7 | ready to provide lifesaving care 24 hours a day, seven days a |
8 | week, to those in need; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Access to quality emergency care dramatically |
10 | improves the survival and recovery rate of those who experience |
11 | sudden illness or injury; and |
12 | WHEREAS, The emergency medical services system consists of |
13 | emergency physicians, emergency nurses, rescue personnel, |
14 | emergency medical technicians (EMTs), paramedics, prehospital |
15 | nurses, air medical personnel, emergency responders, first |
16 | responders, ambulance attendants, emergency vehicle operators, |

1 | firefighters, police officers, educators, dispatchers, |
2 | administrators and others; and |
3 | WHEREAS, The members of emergency medical services teams, |
4 | whether career or volunteer, engage in thousands of hours of |
5 | specialized training and continuing education to enhance their |
6 | lifesaving skills; and |
7 | WHEREAS, It is appropriate to recognize the value and the |
8 | accomplishments of emergency medical services providers who, by |
9 | their service, are everyday heroes; therefore be it |
10 | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the |
11 | week of May 15 through 21, 2011, as "Emergency Medical Services |
12 | Week" and May 18, 2011, as "Emergency Medical Services for |
13 | Children (EMSC) Day" in Pennsylvania. |
