A RESOLUTION
Designating April 8, 2009, as "Cushing's Syndrome Awareness Day"
in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Cushing's syndrome is a disorder of the endocrine
system in which excessive levels of cortisol are produced; and
WHEREAS, Often misdiagnosed, Cushing's is a relatively rare
disorder affecting approximately 10 to 15 out of every million
people and affecting five times as many women as men; and
WHEREAS, April 8th is the birthday anniversary of
neurosurgeon Dr. Harvey Cushing, who discovered the illness;
therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate April
8, 2009, as "Cushing's Syndrome Awareness Day" in Pennsylvania.
