AN ACT

 

1Amending Title 35 (Health and Safety) of the Pennsylvania
2Consolidated Statutes, in emergency medical services system,
3providing for dismissal upon conviction of certain offense.

4The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5hereby enacts as follows:

6Section 1. Title 35 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
7Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:

8§ 8143. Dismissal.

9Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary,
10an emergency medical technician or emergency medical technician-
11paramedic who is convicted of an offense under section 13(a)(12)
12of the act of April 14, 1972 (P.L.233, No.64), known as The
13Controlled Substance, Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act, or a
14substantially similar offense in another state shall be
15summarily dismissed from employment.

16Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
