AN ACT

Amending the act of June 13, 1907 (P.L.560, No.373), entitled

2

"An act designating the official flag of the Commonwealth of

3

Pennsylvania, and describing the same; providing for the

4

carrying of such flag by the regiments of the National Guard

5

of Pennsylvania; authorizing the Secretary of the

6

Commonwealth to provide, and have deposited in the office of

7

Secretary of the Commonwealth, a model of said flag, and

8

making an appropriation therefor," further providing for

9

specifications for the official flag of the Commonwealth.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

11

hereby enacts as follows:

12

Section 1.  Section 1 of the act of June 13, 1907 (P.L.560,

13

No.373), entitled "An act designating the official flag of the

14

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and describing the same; providing

15

for the carrying of such flag by the regiments of the National

16

Guard of Pennsylvania; authorizing the Secretary of the

17

Commonwealth to provide, and have deposited in the office of

18

Secretary of the Commonwealth, a model of said flag, and making

19

an appropriation therefor," is amended to read:

Section 1.  Be it enacted, &c., That the flag to be known as

the official flag of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania shall be

2

of blue, same color as the blue field in the flag of the United

3

States, and of the following dimensions and design; to wit, The

4

length, or heighth, of the staff to be nine feet, including

5

brass spear-head and ferrule; the fly of the said flag to be six

6

feet two inches, and to be four feet six inches on the staff; in

7

the center of the flag there shall be embroidered in silk the

8

same on both sides of the flag the coat of arms of the

9

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in proportionate size; the edges

10

to be trimmed with knotted fringe of yellow silk, two and one-

11

half inches wide; a cord, with tassels, to be attached to the

12

staff at the spear-head, to be eight feet six inches long, and

13

composed of white and blue silk strands[.]; the words

14

"Commonwealth of" arched above the coat of arms, to be

15

embroidered in block letters upon the flag, in yellow silk; the

16

word "Pennsylvania" in block letters arched below the coat of

17

arms, in yellow silk.

Section 2.  The provisions of this amendatory act shall take

19

effect July 1, 2011, at which time this newly designed State

20

flag shall be the official flag of the Commonwealth of

21

Pennsylvania.

22

Section 3.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
