prepare an argument against any constitutional | 9 |
amendment proposed by initiative petition. | 10 |
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO
(THE SENATE CONCURRING):
WHEREAS, When the General Assembly adopts a joint resolution | 11 |
proposing an amendment to the Ohio Constitution under Ohio | 12 |
Constitution, Article XVI, Section 1, it may designate, under | 13 |
section 3505.063 of the Revised Code, a group of members who voted | 14 |
in support of the joint resolution to prepare arguments for the | 15 |
proposed amendment and, unless no members voted in opposition, a | 16 |
group of members who voted in opposition to the joint resolution | 17 |
to prepare arguments against the proposed amendment; and | 18 |
WHEREAS, The General Assembly, if in session, is required to | 19 |
name the person or persons who will prepare the argument, | 20 |
explanation, or both, for any law, section, or item submitted to | 21 |
the electors by referendum petition, under Ohio Constitution, | 22 |
Article II, Section 1g; now therefore be it | 23 |
RESOLVED, That, when the 129th General Assembly adopts a | 24 |
joint resolution proposing an amendment to the Ohio Constitution, | 25 |
the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of | 26 |
Representatives, on behalf of the 129th General Assembly, may | 27 |
designate a group of members who voted in support of the joint | 28 |
resolution to prepare arguments for the proposed amendment and, | 29 |
unless no members voted in opposition, a group of members who | 30 |
voted in opposition to the joint resolution to prepare arguments | 31 |
against the proposed amendment; and be it further | 32 |
RESOLVED, That the President of the Senate and the Speaker of | 33 |
the House of Representatives, on behalf of the 129th General | 34 |
Assembly, may designate the person or persons who will prepare the | 35 |
argument, explanation, or both, for any law, section, or item | 36 |
submitted to the electors by referendum petition during the 129th | 37 |
General Assembly; and be it further | 38 |
RESOLVED, That the President of the Senate and the Speaker of | 39 |
the House of Representatives, on behalf of the 129th General | 40 |
Assembly, may designate the person or persons who will prepare the | 41 |
argument against any constitutional amendment proposed by | 42 |
initiative petition during the 129th General Assembly; and be it | 43 |
further | 44 |
RESOLVED, That the President of the Senate and the Speaker of | 45 |
the House of Representatives make their designations so as to | 46 |
leave the designated group or groups of members, person, or | 47 |
persons with sufficient time to prepare and file their arguments | 48 |
with the Secretary of State not later than the eightieth day | 49 |
before the day of the election at which the issue will be | 50 |
submitted to the electors. | 51 |
