A BILL
To enact section 4955.50 of the Revised Code to 1
require railroad companies to install and maintain 2
reflective banners on all hand-thrown switches and 3
derails that connect with main track line.4


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

       Section 1. That section 4955.50 of the Revised Code be 5
enacted to read as follows:6

       Sec. 4955.50.  (A) Every railroad company that maintains 7
railroad tracks within this state shall install and maintain 8
reflective banners on all hand-thrown switches and derails that 9
connect with main track line. Each banner shall be clearly visible 10
from the operator's position on an approaching locomotive so as to 11
serve as a warning to the operator of the presence of a 12
hand-thrown switch or derail.13

       (B) No railroad company that maintains railroad tracks within 14
this state shall fail to comply with division (A) of this section.15

       (C) A railroad company that violates division (B) of this 16
section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor for every reflective 17
banner that is not properly installed or maintained on a 18
hand-thrown switch or derail as required by division (A) of this 19
section.20
