STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 9591--A IN SENATE November 4, 2022 ___________ Introduced by Sen. JORDAN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT to allow Brian Laurange Jr. to be eligible to take the civil service exam for the position of police officer for the Columbia Coun- ty Sheriff's Office The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of the civil 2 service law or any other provision of law to the contrary, Brian 3 Laurange Jr., who has been continuously employed by the county of Colum- 4 bia, as a part-time corrections officer, shall be eligible to take the 5 competitive civil service examination for the position of police officer 6 and shall, contingent upon his score on such examination, be eligible to 7 be placed on the eligible list for appointment as a full-time police 8 officer for the Columbia County Sheriff's Office. 9 § 2. Brian Laurange Jr. shall otherwise be subject to the merit and 10 fitness provisions of the civil service law applicable to full-time 11 police officers. 12 § 3.
