STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 8882 IN SENATE March 25, 2024 ___________ Introduced by Sen. COONEY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Health AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to a dental health demonstration project; and providing for the repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The social services law is amended by adding a new section 2 368-g to read as follows: 3 § 368-g. Dental health demonstration project. The department shall 4 authorize a five-year demonstration project in the county of Monroe for 5 the purpose of providing reimbursement to providers for eligible dental 6 diagnostic services for eligible populations. Such populations shall 7 include pregnant persons and post-partum persons for the period of 8 twelve months following birth that are enrolled in medical assistance 9 under this title. Such diagnostic services shall include clinical 10 services to treat existing dental problems, testing, self-direct imagery 11 or patient encounters for the purpose of following up on any of the 12 aforementioned. The department shall set rates of payment for such 13 diagnostic services on a fee-for-service basis. Managed care plans serv- 14 ing such populations may elect to cover such services, provided that, 15 upon such election, the department shall adjust the administrative 16 portion of managed care plan rates for such purpose. 17 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall expire and be 18 deemed repealed 5 years after such date.
