        Introduced  by  Sen.  O'MARA -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules

        AN ACT to amend the public health law, in  relation  to  giving  schools
          improved access to the statewide immunization database

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Paragraph (c) of subdivision  8  of  section  2168  of  the
     2  public  health  law,  as  amended by chapter 420 of the laws of 2014, is
     3  amended to read as follows:
     4    (c) health care providers and their designees, registered professional
     5  nurses, [and] pharmacists authorized to administer immunizations  pursu-
     6  ant  to subdivision two of section sixty-eight hundred one of the educa-
     7  tion law, and schools as defined in paragraph a of  subdivision  one  of
     8  section twenty-one hundred sixty-four of this title shall have access to
     9  the  statewide immunization information system and the blood lead infor-
    10  mation in such system only for purposes  of  submission  of  information
    11  about  vaccinations  received by a specific registrant, determination of
    12  the immunization status of a specific registrant, determination  of  the
    13  blood  lead  testing  status of a specific registrant, submission of the
    14  results from a blood lead analysis of a sample obtained from a  specific
    15  registrant  in  accordance with paragraph (h) of subdivision two of this
    16  section, review of practice coverage, generation  of  reminder  notices,
    17  quality improvement and accountability and printing a copy of the immun-
    18  ization  or lead testing record for the registrant's medical record, for
    19  the registrant's parent or guardian, or  other  person  in  parental  or
    20  custodial  relation  to a child, or for a registrant upon reaching eigh-
    21  teen years of age.
    22    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
