STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 8585--A IN SENATE June 16, 2020 ___________ Introduced by Sen. MAY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to authorizing school districts to use school transportation aid to pay for the cost and expenses of transporting and delivering meals, homework materials and any other school materials to students during the COVID-19 pandemic The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 3622-a of the education law is amended by adding a 2 new subdivision 8 to read as follows: 3 8. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, the 4 transportation of meals, educational materials, and any other school- 5 related materials for the period that began with the declaration of the 6 state of emergency declared as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic that 7 was executed in executive order two hundred two that began on March 8 seventh, two thousand twenty. 9 § 2. Paragraph e of subdivision 1 of section 3623-a of the education 10 law is amended by adding a new subparagraph 12 to read as follows: 11 (12) notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, the 12 transportation of meals, educational materials, and any other school- 13 related materials for the period that began with the declaration of the 14 state of emergency declared as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic that 15 was executed in executive order two hundred two that began on March 16 seventh, two thousand twenty. 17 § 3.
