STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 7974--A IN SENATE January 4, 2024 ___________ Introduced by Sen. HOYLMAN-SIGAL -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT in relation to renaming the Christopher Street-Sheridan Square subway station on the IRT Broadway-Seventh Avenue line the "Christo- pher Street-Stonewall National Monument station"; and to provide for the repeal of such provisions upon the expiration thereof The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Upon a determination by the Metropolitan Transportation 2 Authority or the New York City Transit Authority that sufficient funds 3 have been committed to it specifically for such purpose, the 4 Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the public benefit corporation 5 created by section 1263 of the public authorities law, and the New 6 York City Transit Authority, the public benefit corporation created by 7 section 1201 of the public authorities law, shall use such specif- 8 ically committed funds to rename the Christopher Street-Sheridan Square 9 subway station on the IRT Broadway-Seventh Avenue line of the New York 10 city subway to the Christopher Street-Stonewall National Monument 11 station. The MTA shall ensure that all signs, maps and any other items 12 issued by the MTA are updated to accurately reflect the new name of 13 the station within such time and in such manner as the MTA shall deem 14 appropriate. 15 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately, and shall be deemed to 16 expire and be repealed after the signs, maps and any other items are 17 accurately updated. The chief executive officer of the Metropolitan 18 Transportation Authority or president of the New York City Transit 19 Authority shall notify the legislative bill drafting commission upon 20 the completion of such updates in order that the commission may main- 21 tain an accurate and timely effective data base of the official text of 22 the laws of the state of New York in furtherance of effectuating the 23 provisions of section 44 of the legislative law and section 70-b 24 of the public officers law.
