STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 7845 IN SENATE January 12, 2022 ___________ Introduced by Sen. MYRIE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend chapter 249 of the laws of 2021, amending the election law relating to electronic applications for absentee ballots, in relation to the effectiveness thereof; and to amend a chapter of the laws of 2021, amending the election law relating to establishing an electronic absentee ballot application transmittal system, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 6482-B and A. 6970-A, in relation to the effectiveness thereof The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of article 5 of the general 2 construction law, the provisions of paragraph (d) of subdivision 2 of 3 section 8-400 of the election law are hereby revived and shall continue 4 in full force and effect as such provisions existed on December 30, 5 2021. 6 § 2. Section 2 of chapter 249 of the laws of 2021, amending the 7 election law relating to electronic applications for absentee ballots, 8 is amended to read as follows: 9 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall expire and be 10 deemed repealed on [December 31, 2021] April 1, 2022. 11 § 3. Section 3 of a chapter of the laws of 2021, amending the election 12 law relating to establishing an electronic absentee ballot application 13 transmittal system, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 6482-B 14 and A. 6970-A, is amended to read as follows: 15 § 3. This act shall take effect [January] April 1, 2022. Effective 16 immediately, the state board of elections shall be authorized to promul- 17 gate any rules or regulations required to carry out the provisions of 18 this act prior to such effective date. 19 § 4.
