CARLUCCI -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend the civil rights law, in relation to defining a "three- unit service dog team" and granting rights and privileges to such teams THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 1 Section 1. Section 47-b of the civil rights law is amended by adding a 2 new subdivision 3-a to read as follows: 3 3-A. PERSONS WHO ARE PART OF A THREE-UNIT SERVICE DOG TEAM, WHILE 4 ENGAGED IN CONTINUING TRAINING OF A SERVICE DOG, SHALL HAVE THE SAME 5 RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES SET FORTH FOR PERSONS WITH A DISABILITY IN THIS 6 ARTICLE. FOR PURPOSES OF THIS ARTICLE, "THREE-UNIT SERVICE DOG TEAM" 7 SHALL MEAN A TEAM CONSISTING OF A PERSON WITH A DISABILITY, A TRAINED 8 SERVICE DOG, AND A PERSON OVER THE AGE OF EIGHTEEN WHO HAS BEEN TRAINED 9 TO HANDLE A SERVICE DOG. 10 S 2.
