        Introduced  by  Sen.  CHU  --  read  twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules

        AN ACT to amend the general  business  law,  in  relation  to  requiring
          charging cords for bicycles with electric assist and electric scooters
          to have a red tag attached

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. The general business law is amended by adding a new section
     2  399-nnn to read as follows:
     3    § 399-nnn. Tags on charging cords of bicycles with electric assist and
     4  electric scooters. No person, firm, or corporation shall sell  or  offer
     5  for  sale at retail any bicycle with electric assist or electric scooter
     6  unless there is a red tag affixed to the charging cord of  such  bicycle
     7  or scooter which clearly and conspicuously states "UNPLUG IN EMERGENCY".
     8  Such tag shall be affixed to the cord near the end which is plugged into
     9  the electricity source.
    10    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
