       Introduced by Sen. ESPAILLAT -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
         printed to be committed to the Committee on Finance
       AN ACT to amend chapter 707 of the laws of 2004 creating a temporary New
         York  state  French  and  Indian  war  250th anniversary commemoration
         commission, in relation to extending the expiration and repeal of such
         provisions
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section  1.  The  opening paragraph of section 1 of chapter 707 of the
    2  laws of 2004 creating a temporary New York state French and  Indian  war
    3  250th  anniversary  commemoration  commission  is  amended  to  read  as
    4  follows:
    5    The legislature hereby finds and declares there is a need to create  a
    6  New  York  state  French  and Indian war 250th anniversary commemoration
    7  commission to promote the 250th anniversary of the French and Indian war
    8  which will take place between the years  2005  and  [2010]  2015.    The
    9  primary focus of the New York state French and Indian war 250th anniver-
   10  sary  commemoration  commission will be to plan and execute an organized
   11  series of French and Indian war reenactment tourism events. The  tourism
   12  events  will  highlight  the  following  key sites: the Lake George/Fort
   13  George area in 2005; Fort Bull/Fort Stanwix and Fort  Ontario/Oswego  in
   14  2006;  Fort William Henry/Lake George in 2007; Fort Carillon/Ticonderoga
   15  in 2008; Fort Niagara in 2009 and Fort  La  Presentation/Fort  Levis  in
   16  2010.
   17    S  2.  Paragraph b of subdivision 3 of section 2 of chapter 707 of the
   18  laws of 2004 creating a temporary New York state French and  Indian  war
   19  250th  anniversary  commemoration  commission  is  amended  to  read  as
   20  follows:
   21    b. The members of the commission shall  receive  no  compensation  for
   22  their  services  [but shall be reimbursed for their actual and necessary
   23  expenses incurred by them in  the  performance  of  their  duties],  NOR
   24  RECEIVE ANY REIMBURSEMENT OR PAYMENT OF ANY TYPE.
   25    S  3.  Paragraph a of subdivision 1 of section 3 of chapter 707 of the
   26  laws of 2004 creating a temporary New York state French and  Indian  war
        EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets
                             [ ] is old law to be omitted.

    1  250th  anniversary  commemoration  commission  is  amended  to  read  as
    2  follows:
    3    a.  To  coordinate  the  commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the
    4  French and Indian war for the years 2005 through [2010] 2015;
    5    S 4.  Section 7 of chapter 707 of the laws of 2004 creating  a  tempo-
    6  rary  New  York  state  French  and Indian war 250th anniversary commem-
    7  oration commission is amended to read as follows:
    8    S 7. The commission shall continue in  existence  until  December  31,
    9  [2010] 2015, at which time it shall be deemed to be repealed.
   10    S  5.  This  act  shall take effect immediately and shall be deemed to
   11  have been in full force and effect on and after December 31, 2010.
