STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 7271 IN SENATE April 12, 2016 ___________ Introduced by Sen. RITCHIE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Children and Families AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to the duties of child protective services concerning reports of suspected child abuse or maltreatment by an active duty member of the military The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 424 of the social services law is amended by adding 2 a new subdivision 6-c to read as follows: 3 6-c. In cases where the child protective service has reasonable 4 grounds to believe the perpetrator of suspected child abuse or maltreat- 5 ment is an active duty member of the military, as defined by subdivision 6 six of section one of the military law, forward a copy of such report to 7 the appropriate military officials; 8 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [] is old law to be omitted. LBD13954-01-6
