       Introduced by Sens. HUNTLEY, ESPAILLAT, PARKER -- read twice and ordered
         printed,  and  when printed to be committed to the Committee on Veter-
         ans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs --  committee  discharged,
         bill  amended,  ordered  reprinted  as amended and recommitted to said

       AN  ACT  to  amend the executive law, in relation to developing plans to
         adequately address military sexual trauma experienced by female veter-
         ans
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section  1.  Section 353 of the executive law is amended by adding two
    2  new subdivisions 21 and 22 to read as follows:
    3    21. TO DISSEMINATE INFORMATION TO FEMALE  VETERANS,  WHEN  APPLICABLE,
    4  REGARDING  WHICH  VETERANS' AFFAIRS CENTERS AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS SUCH
    5  FEMALE VETERANS CAN SEEK TREATMENT, COUNSELING AND RESOURCES  FOR  MILI-
    6  TARY  SEXUAL  TRAUMA.  SUCH  INFORMATION  SHALL BE POSTED ON THE VETERAN
    7  AFFAIRS' WEBSITE. FOR THE PURPOSES  OF  THIS  ARTICLE,  MILITARY  SEXUAL
    8  TRAUMA  SHALL  MEAN  PSYCHOLOGICAL  TRAUMA,  WHICH  IN THE JUDGMENT OF A
    9  VETERANS' AFFAIRS MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL, RESULTED FROM  A  PHYSICAL
   10  ATTACK  OF A SEXUAL NATURE, BATTERY OF A SEXUAL NATURE OR SEXUAL HARASS-
   11  MENT WHICH OCCURRED WHILE THE VETERAN WAS SERVING ON ACTIVE DUTY  OR  ON
   12  ACTIVE DUTY FOR TRAINING.
   13    22.  TO ESTABLISH PEER COUNSELING AND SUPPORT SERVICES REGARDING MILI-
   14  TARY SEXUAL TRAUMA FOR FEMALE VETERANS AT ONE OR MORE  VETERAN  AFFAIRS'
   15  FACILITIES IF HE OR SHE DEEMS IT APPROPRIATE AND NECESSARY.
   16    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
