        AN  ACT  to  amend the public officers law, in relation to the residency
          requirement for the assistant court clerk for the town  of  Somers  in
          the county of Westchester
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. Section 3 of the public officers law is amended by adding a
     2  new subdivision 66 to read as follows:
     3    66. In  the  town  of  Somers,  in  the  county  of  Westchester,  the
     4  provisions  of  this  section requiring a person to be a resident of the
     5  political subdivision or municipal corporation of the state for which he
     6  or she shall be chosen or within which his or her official functions are
     7  required to be exercised, shall not prevent a person  from  holding  the
     8  office  of  assistant  court  clerk of the town of Somers, provided that
     9  such person resides in the county in  which  such  town  is  located  or
    10  Putnam  county.   Provided, however, the person performing the functions
    11  of assistant court clerk in any other town shall be a resident  of  such
    12  town, unless otherwise provided by an act of the state legislature.
    13    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
