         the Legislative Commission on  Rural  Resources)  --  read  twice  and
         ordered  printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on
         Environmental Conservation -- recommitted to the Committee on Environ-
         mental Conservation in accordance  with  Senate  Rule  6,  sec.  8  --
         reported  favorably  from  said committee, ordered to first and second
         report, ordered to a third reading, passed by Senate and delivered  to
         the  Assembly, recalled, vote reconsidered, restored to third reading,
         amended and ordered reprinted, retaining its place  in  the  order  of
         third reading
       AN  ACT  to  amend  the  soil  and  water conservation districts law, in
         relation to authorizing  directors  of  soil  and  water  conservation
         districts to undertake public information and education programs
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. Section 9 of the soil and water conservation districts  law
    2  is amended by adding a new subdivision 16 to read as follows:
    3    (16)  WITHIN  THE  LIMITS  OF  APPROPRIATIONS  MADE AVAILABLE FOR SUCH
    4  PURPOSES, TO  UNDERTAKE  A  PUBLIC  INFORMATION  AND  EDUCATION  PROGRAM
    5  REGARDING  THE PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES OF PRESERVATION AND CONSERVATION
    6  OF THE SOIL AND WATER RESOURCES OF THIS STATE SET FORTH IN  SECTION  TWO
    7  OF THIS CHAPTER.
    8    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
