KRUGER -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the public authorities law, in relation to providing for reduced fare tokens for residents of Kings county who use the Verraza- no-Narrows bridge THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 1 Section 1. Section 553-f of the public authorities law, as amended by 2 chapter 2 of the laws of 1993, is amended to read as follows: 3 S 553-f. Tokens. Notwithstanding any inconsistent provision of law, 4 but subject to agreements with noteholders and bondholders, the authori- 5 ty shall offer for sale tokens with respect to residents of the [county] 6 COUNTIES of Richmond AND KINGS and may, except as otherwise provided 7 herein, regulate the use thereof. Tokens for residents of the [county] 8 COUNTIES of Richmond AND KINGS shall entitle the purchaser to crossings 9 over the Verrazano-Narrows bridge at a reduced cost of eighty per centum 10 of the regular crossing fare imposed on nonresidents of the [county] 11 COUNTIES of Richmond AND KINGS. In the event the authority shall impose 12 a surcharge in addition to the regular toll for crossings over the 13 Verrazano-Narrows bridge, such surcharge shall not be deemed a part of 14 the regular crossing fare for purposes of this section, and the tokens 15 offered for sale to the residents of the [county] COUNTIES of Richmond 16 AND KINGS as herein provided shall also entitle the purchaser to a 17 permanent exemption from the payment of any such surcharge in an amount 18 equal to the amount of any such surcharge imposed during calendar year 19 nineteen hundred ninety-three. Application for such tokens or other 20 payment devices shall be made in such manner as prescribed by the 21 authority and shall contain such information as the authority may 22 reasonably require. 23 S 2.
