       AN ACT to exempt veterans of World War II from any additional fees  when
         they order license plates stating "World War II Veteran"
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. The department of motor vehicles shall establish that there
    2  shall be no charge for the issuance or renewal of a license plate  stat-
    3  ing "World War II Veteran", upon payment of the regular registration fee
    4  prescribed  by  section  401  of  the vehicle and traffic law, when such
    5  plate is being issued upon proof, satisfactory to  the  commissioner  of
    6  motor vehicles, that the applicant is a veteran of World War II.
    7    S 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred twentieth day after
    8  it shall have become a law; provided, however, that effective immediate-
    9  ly,  the  addition, amendment and/or repeal of any rules and regulations
   10  necessary for the implementation of this act on its effective  date  are
   11  authorized  and  directed  to  be  made  and completed on or before such
   12  effective date.
