        Introduced  by Sen. HAMILTON -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Investigations and Govern-
          ment Operations -- reported favorably from said committee and  commit-
          ted to the Committee on Finance -- committee discharged, bill amended,
          ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee
        AN  ACT  to  enact  the  "youth violence prevention task force act"; and
          providing for the repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section  1.  Short  title. This act shall be known and may be cited as
     2  the "youth violence prevention task force act".
     3    § 2. Youth violence  prevention  task  force;  members.  1.  There  is
     4  created the "youth violence prevention task force" (hereinafter referred
     5  to  as  the  task  force) consisting of seven members to be appointed as
     6  follows:
     7    a. one member of the senate who shall be appointed  by  the  temporary
     8  president of the senate;
     9    b.  one  member  of  the senate who shall be appointed by the minority
    10  leader of the senate;
    11    c. one member of the assembly who shall be appointed by the speaker of
    12  the assembly;
    13    d. one member of the assembly who shall be appointed by  the  minority
    14  leader of the assembly; and
    15    e.  three  members who shall be appointed by the governor, one of whom
    16  shall be designated as the chairperson of the task force by  the  gover-
    17  nor.
    18    2.  The members of the task force shall serve without compensation but
    19  shall be entitled to reimbursement for their  reasonable  and  necessary
    20  expenses incurred in the performance of their duties.

     1    3.  The  task force may utilize skilled experts, and shall receive the
     2  cooperation of those state agencies it deems appropriate to  assist  the
     3  task force in carrying out its duties.
     4    4. The task force shall hold hearings across the state.
     5    §  3.  Youth  violence  prevention task force; duties.  The task force
     6  shall study and evaluate  the  effectiveness  of  current  and  existing
     7  programs  related  to  the  prevention of youth violence. The task force
     8  shall further issue a report to the governor and the legislature  on  or
     9  before December 1, 2018 concerning its activities and findings.
    10    §  4.  This  act shall take effect immediately and shall expire and be
    11  deemed repealed on December 1, 2018.
