          printed to be committed to the Committee on Education

        AN ACT to amend the education law,  in  relation  to  scheduling  school
          lunch periods

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Section 813 of the education law, as added by  chapter  296
     2  of the laws of 1994, is amended to read as follows:
     3    § 813. School lunch period; scheduling.  Each school shall schedule [a
     4  reasonable  time]  times  for  students  to  consume lunch that begin no
     5  earlier than two and one-half hours and no later than four  hours  after
     6  the  start  of the school day for each full day pupil attending pre-kin-
     7  dergarten through grade twelve [to consume lunch].
     8    § 2. This act shall take effect on the first of  August  occurring  in
     9  the year two years after which this act becomes a law.
