        AN  ACT  authorizing the town of East Hampton, Suffolk county, to estab-
          lish an underground utility improvement district
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section  1.  The  town  of  East Hampton, in the county of Suffolk, is
     2  hereby  authorized  to  establish  an  underground  utility  improvement
     3  district  pursuant  to  articles  12 and 12-A of the town law. Such road
     4  improvement district shall be established, funded, operated  and  other-
     5  wise  controlled  by  the provisions of articles 12 and 12-A of the town
     6  law and the provisions of this act. To the extent that the provisions of
     7  this act shall in any way be in conflict with articles 12  and  12-A  of
     8  the town law, the provisions of this act shall be controlling.

     1    § 2. The purpose of the underground utility improvement district shall
     2  be  to take such action as may be required to adopt plans and specifica-
     3  tions and enter into a contract or contracts, or take such other actions
     4  as may be required with  a  public  utility  company,  municipality,  or
     5  public  authority  in  order to construct underground new public utility
     6  facilities or convert existing overhead  public  utility  facilities  to
     7  underground  facilities.  For  the purposes of this act, "public utility
     8  facilities" shall include the transmission  and  distribution  of  elec-
     9  trical  energy,  telephone  lines, and cable television lines, including
    10  poles, wires, and all associated structures.
    11    § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
