        AN ACT to amend the general obligations law, in relation to recovery  by
          certain  persons  for intentional or negligent infliction of emotional
          distress
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section  1.  The  general  obligations  law is amended by adding a new
     2  section 11-108 to read as follows:
     3    § 11-108. Recovery by certain persons  for  intentional  or  negligent
     4  infliction  of  emotional  distress.  In  addition to any other right of
     5  action or recovery otherwise available under law,  an  immediate  family
     6  member  within the zone of danger may recover damages for intentional or
     7  negligent infliction of emotional distress. For  the  purposes  of  this
     8  section,  "immediate  family member" shall mean a spouse, parent, child,
     9  sibling or grandparent.
    10    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
