Assembly Resolution No. 964

        CONGRATULATING  David Dudajek upon the occasion of
        his retirement after 47 years of  dedicated  service
        to the field of journalism

  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
those  extraordinary  individuals  who have diligently and consistently,
year after year, recorded the history of their communities  and  brought
local news and news of the larger world to their readers; and

  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to
congratulate  David Dudajek upon the occasion of his retirement after 47
years of dedicated service to the field of journalism; and

  WHEREAS, A graduate  of  Utica  College,  David  Dudajek  began  his
illustrious  journalism career as a reporter at the Rome Daily Sentinel;
and

  WHEREAS, In 1979,  David  Dudajek  took  a  job  with  the  Observer
Dispatch  as their news editor; he was later promoted to the newspaper's
Opinions Page editor, the esteemed position he held until his retirement
on Friday, May 29, 2020; and

  WHEREAS,  With  a  steadfast  and  unremitting  commitment  to   his
profession,  David  Dudajek  also  worked  on  several special projects,
including Operation Sunshine and Teen All-Stars; and

  WHEREAS, David Dudajek is the proud recipient of numerous awards and
accolades from the New York State Associated Press Association Newspaper
Contest in  recognition  of  his  writing;  additionally,  in  2019,  he
received the New York State Senate Commendation Award; and

  WHEREAS,  Through  the years, David Dudajek has served with loyalty,
honor and distinction, earning the admiration, esteem and  affection  of
his colleagues; and

  WHEREAS,  David  Dudajek  has,  throughout his career and purposeful
life, served his community with  integrity  and  devotion,  continuously
striving  to  meet  the  needs  of his readers through entertainment and
enlightenment; and

  WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Jan and  their  two
daughters,  Jaime  and Sarah, as well as five grandchildren, all of whom
feel privileged to be a part  of  his  life  and  rejoice  in  his  many
achievements; and

  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the  maintenance  of  high  standards  in  their
profession,  certainly  have  earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
congratulate  David Dudajek upon the occasion of his retirement after 47
years of dedicated service to the field of journalism, and to  wish  him
continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to David Dudajek.
