Assembly Resolution No. 783 BY: M. of A. Cook HONORING Waspagne Preval upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of a Lincoln-King Visionary Award for her commitment and service to her community WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and WHEREAS, Waspagne Preval has given not only of her time and energies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has been designated for special honor; and WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Waspagne Preval upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of a Lincoln-King Visionary Award for her commitment and service to her community, to be celebrated at the Lincoln-King Visionary Awards Gala, "From Dream to Greatness," on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the Sand Castle in Franklin Square, New York; and WHEREAS, This auspicious community gala is held annually to unite the international community and to celebrate unity in diversity while recognizing community leaders for their services; and WHEREAS, A resident of Queens Village, New York, Waspagne Preval has been called upon to contribute her time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given of herself unstintingly; and WHEREAS, Waspagne Preval was born and raised in Port Au Prince, Haiti, the third oldest of seven children; she and her family moved to the United States in the 1980s, and later settled in New York City where she was married and gave birth to five children; and WHEREAS, As a mother, Waspagne Preval always put her children first and taught them that they could achieve anything they put their minds to; over the years, despite raising five children, she opened her home to countless others in need of a place to stay; and WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to helping others, Waspagne Preval is active in several community churches and organizations, dedicating her time and talents to making delicious food for those in need; and WHEREAS, A woman of indomitable faith and dedication, Waspagne Preval prays often and encourages others to do the same; and WHEREAS, Waspagne Preval began her illustrious career at in Histology at Harlem Hospital on April 18, 1988, as a Medical Technologist; today, we can congratulate her for completing 35 years and 10 months of service to The New York City Health and Hospitals Harlem; and WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a period of constructive involvement, Waspagne Preval has stood constant in dignity, good grace, and humor; and WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individual for the benefit of others which Waspagne Preval has displayed throughout her life; and WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to Waspagne Preval, that future generations may know and appreciate her admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to honor Waspagne Preval upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of a Lincoln-King Visionary Award for her commitment and service to her community; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Waspagne Preval.
