Assembly Resolution No. 701 BY: M. of A. Zebrowski CONGRATULATING George E. Wargo, Jr. upon the occasion of his retirement as Superintendent of Highways in Haverstraw, New York WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body, in keeping with its time-honored traditions, to recognize and pay tribute to those who have served to better the quality of life in our communities and have had a measurable positive impact on the lives of its residents; George E. Wargo, Jr. is one such individual; and WHEREAS, George E. Wargo, Jr. spent over 40 years as an employee of the Rockland County Highway Department, starting his career as a laborer; and WHEREAS, Since 2014, George E. Wargo Jr. has served as the Town of Haverstraw Superintendent of Highways, ensuring that roads and other public infrastructure are maintained; and WHEREAS, Committed to serving his community, George E. Wargo, Jr. has been a 40 year member and former chief of the West Haverstraw Fire Department, and has been involved in other community organizations such as the Knights of Columbus Council No. 581, Sons of the American Legion, St. Peter's CYO Program, Haverstraw Little League, North Rockland Sports Hall of Fame, Central Hudson Valley Football Officials Association, and Just For Fun Baseball; and WHEREAS, George E. Wargo, Jr. has been a member of several professional associations, including the American Public Works Association, Rockland County Superintendent of Highways Association and the Damage Preventive Council; and WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to congratulate George E. Wargo, Jr. upon the occasion of his retirement, after many years of distinguished service to the residents of the Town of Haverstraw and the County of Rockland, and to wish him well in all of his future endeavors; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to George E. Wargo, Jr.
