Assembly Resolution No. 430 BY: M. of A. Friend HONORING Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Jack Vakiener upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the General Ira C. Eaker Award by the Civil Air Patrol WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in this Nation, and the great State of New York, is reflective of the purposeful lives and good works of those patriotic and civic-minded community members who dedicate their lives and careers to the service of others; and WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Jack Vakiener upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the General Ira C. Eaker Award by the Civil Air Patrol (CAP); and WHEREAS, Upon the successful completion of Phase IV of the CAP Cadet Program with Twin Tiers Cadet Squadron NY 283, Jack Vakiener was officially promoted to the title of Cadet Lieutenant Colonel, thereby earning the General Ira C. Eaker Award, which was celebrated at a Promotion Ceremony on Tuesday, May 2, 2023; and WHEREAS, The CAP is the official auxiliary of the United States Air Force with over 61,000 members nationwide; it performs 90 percent of continental United States inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center; and WHEREAS, The General Ira C. Eaker Award is one of the Civil Air Patrol's most prized honors and is presented to cadets who have demonstrated excellence in leadership, character, fitness, and Aerospace Education; and WHEREAS, Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Jack Vakiener, through his diligence and rigorous efforts, has completed one of the highest levels of achievement in the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program and consequently has been designated for special recognition; and WHEREAS, This esteemed young man is the 4,122nd recipient to have received this prestigious award since its inception in 1998, which is representative of less than one percent of all cadets nationwide; and WHEREAS, Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Jack Vakiener's perseverance in rising through the ranks of the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program is a strong indication of his ability to master difficult tasks; his accomplishments have enabled him to emerge as a leader, fully equipped to meet the challenges of today's complex society; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to honor Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Jack Vakiener upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the General Ira C. Eaker Award by the Civil Air Patrol; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Jack Vakiener.
