Assembly Resolution No. 259 BY: M. of A. Levenberg MOURNING the death of Cheryl Timmons distinguished citizen and devoted member of her community WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great State of New York; and WHEREAS, Cheryl Timmons of Nelsonville, New York, died on February 21, 2023, at the age of 70; and WHEREAS, Cheryl Timmons distinguished herself in her profession and by her sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of her community; and WHEREAS, Born on October 13, 1952, in Ossining, New York, to the late Berline and Grace DiRocco, Cheryl Timmons attended Ossining High School; and WHEREAS, Devoted to her career, Cheryl Timmons worked for the Town of Ossining's Office of the Assessor for over 35 years; and WHEREAS, She was known for always going above and beyond to help the senior citizens, veterans, volunteer firefighters and individuals with disabilities as they tried to navigate through the process of securing their tax exemptions; and WHEREAS, Cheryl Timmons was a devoted parishioner at Our Lady of Loretto Church located in Cold Spring, New York; and WHEREAS, Cheryl Timmons' commitment to excellence, and her spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including charitable and civic endeavors; and WHEREAS, With a great love for animals, Cheryl Timmons joyfully took care of and fed her neighborhood cats; and WHEREAS, Cheryl Timmons is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, James Timmons; loving children, James, and William; cherished grandchildren, James, Theresa, William, Dylan and Amanda, Allen and Johnny, and her dear sister, Laurel; and WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of compassion, Cheryl Timmons leaves behind a legacy which will long endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all she served and befriended; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to mourn the death of Cheryl Timmons distinguished citizen and devoted member of her community; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to the family of Cheryl Timmons.
