Senate Resolution No. 2502 BY: Senator BRESLIN HONORING David Hollander upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Pillars of the Community Award by the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish Community Center WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors, and community service are an example and inspiration to their colleagues, friends, family, and community; and WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor David Hollander upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Pillars of the Community Award by the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish Community Center to be celebrated on Sunday, May 15, 2022; and WHEREAS, Each year, this prestigious awards ceremony recognizes individuals for their contributions to the Center and the Jewish community-at-large by acting as moral pillars and dispensers of wisdom and advice, providing continued service and leadership, and acting generously in the spirit of Tzedakah; and WHEREAS, Widely known for his extraordinary dedication to Israel and the local community, David Hollander's philanthropic and leadership endeavors continue to inspire all of those who are lucky enough to know him; and WHEREAS, David Hollander has been actively involved with the JCC since he was a child regularly attending Sunday Funday; later, he rebuilt JCC's outdoor pavilion through his construction company; and WHEREAS, Since 2014, David Hollander has served as CEO of Sano-Rubin Construction Services, a fourth generation of the Rubin family managing the company; in this capacity, he is responsible for the strategic direction of Sano-Rubin and for establishing corporate vision and ensuring the company fulfills its purpose, "Building to Impact Lives"; and WHEREAS, In its 110-year history, Sano-Rubin has built the Daughters of Sarah Senior Communities twice, Congregation Beth Emeth, Temple Israel, The Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York, and Albany Institute of History and Art, among many other projects; and WHEREAS, In addition to his work with JCC and his company, David Hollander currently serves on the board of B'nai B'rith Housing Foundation as immediate past president, is a board member of the Associated General Contractors of NYS (AGCNYS) and of the Fort Orange Club, an ambassador for the Real Men Wear Pink of the Capital Region, and serves on the East Greenbush Central School District Business Advisory Council, and the Hudson Valley Community College Workforce Development Committee; and WHEREAS, With him throughout has been his wife of 28 years, Laura Peck, and their two children, Zachary and Jarred, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of their life and rejoice in their achievements: and WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals for the benefit of others which David Hollander has displayed throughout his life; and WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to honor David Hollander upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Pillars of the Community Award by the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish Community Center; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to David Hollander.
