Senate Resolution No. 692 BY: Senator KAPLAN CONGRATULATING Kira L. Bryant upon the occasion of being inducted into the 28th Annual May W. Newburger Women's Roll of Honor by the Town of North Hempstead, in conjunction with the observance of Women's History Month WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to those women of achievement within this great Empire State who have made strong contributions to their communities and who inspire others through their model citizenship; and WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Kira L. Bryant upon the occasion of being inducted into the 28th Annual May W. Newburger Women's Roll of Honor by the Town of North Hempstead, in conjunction with the observance of Women's History Month; and WHEREAS, Since 1994, the Town of North Hempstead has honored women who have made a contribution to their community, or have accomplished a significant achievement through public or private efforts; Kira L. Bryant is one such woman; and WHEREAS, Kira L. Bryant is a school social worker for the Westbury Public Schools, and as such, she does counseling daily as part of her job; outside of her work schedule, year around, summers, evenings, weekends, and whenever needed, parents, adults, and youth, call on her for various personal concerns; she seems to always be counseling whether at work or not; and WHEREAS, Although Kira L. Bryant is a very quiet, seemingly low-key person, she engages with her peers, her elders, politicians, and government officials at the local, state, and national levels; she is always speaking out on behalf of the poor, the uneducated, the homeless, children without parents or parents who are unavailable or unable to speak on their behalf; and WHEREAS, This extraordinary woman has been recognized by various organizations for the outstanding work she has done, including: the NAACP, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, and The Nassau Suffolk Pan Hellenic Council; and WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of the State of New York; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to congratulate Kira L. Bryant upon the occasion of being inducted into the 28th Annual May W. Newburger Women's Roll of Honor by the Town of North Hempstead, in conjunction with the observance of Women's History Month; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Kira L. Bryant.
