STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 10389--A IN ASSEMBLY May 25, 2016 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. LUPINACCI -- read once and referred to the Committee on Real Property Taxation -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said commit- tee AN ACT authorizing the Chabad Lubavitch Chai Center, Inc. to receive retroactive real property tax exempt status The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, 2 the assessor of the town of Huntington is hereby authorized to accept 3 from the Chabad Lubavitch Chai Center, Inc. an application for exemption 4 from real property taxes pursuant to section 420-a of the real property 5 tax law for the 2014-2015 assessment roll, for the parcel conveyed to 6 such organization, with such parcel being located in the hamlet of Dix 7 Hills, 2 Folger Lane, otherwise known as Suffolk County Tax Map Number 8 0400 262.00 01.00 041.000. If accepted, the application shall be 9 reviewed as if it had been received on or before the taxable status date 10 established for such roll. 11 If satisfied that such organization would otherwise be entitled to 12 such exemption if such organization had filed an application for 13 exemption by the appropriate taxable status dates, the assessor of the 14 town of Huntington upon approval by the governing body or the tax 15 department, may grant exemption from all taxation beginning on the date 16 of the conveyance of such parcel to such organization on the effective 17 date of this act and cancel taxes, fines, penalties, and interest paid 18 by such organization, and make appropriate correction of the subject 19 roll. 20 § 2.
