STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 9855 IN ASSEMBLY April 15, 2016 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. LOPEZ -- read once and referred to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Wayne C. Speenburgh Memorial Highway" The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-e to 2 read as follows: 3 § 344-e. Portion of the state highway system to be designated as the 4 "Wayne C. Speenburgh Memorial Highway". All that portion of the state 5 highway system constituting state route twenty-three in the county of 6 Greene, from its southern intersection with Old Road, in the town of 7 Windham, continuing in a generally westerly direction, and terminating 8 at N. Settlement Road, in the town of Ashland, shall be designated and 9 known as the "Wayne C. Speenburgh Memorial Highway". 10 § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- 11 lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system 12 as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid 13 confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- 14 nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of 15 ceremonial nature and the official name of such highway shall not be 16 changed as a result of this act. 17 § 3.
