          Committee on Social Services -- committee  discharged,  bill  amended,
          ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee

        AN  ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to authorizing and
          directing county public welfare districts to  accept  paperwork  elec-
          tronically

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Section 65 of the social services law is amended by  adding
     2  a new subdivision 8 to read as follows:
     3    8. Notwithstanding any other law, rule, or regulation to the contrary,
     4  each  county  commissioner  of  social services is hereby authorized and
     5  directed to ensure that their social services district  allows  individ-
     6  uals  submitting  an  application  or other paperwork relating to public
     7  assistance and care to do so electronically.
     8    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
