McDONOUGH -- read once and referred to the Committee on Governmental Operations AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to requiring carbon monoxide detectors in commercial establishments THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 1 Section 1. Section 378 of the executive law is amended by adding a new 2 subdivision 17 to read as follows: 3 17. STANDARDS FOR INSTALLATION OF CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS REQUIRING 4 THAT COMMERCIAL ESTABLISHMENTS HAVE INSTALLED AN OPERABLE CARBON MONOX- 5 IDE DETECTOR OF SUCH MANUFACTURE, DESIGN AND INSTALLATION STANDARDS AS 6 ARE ESTABLISHED BY THE COUNCIL. FOR PURPOSES OF THIS SUBDIVISION, 7 COMMERCIAL ESTABLISHMENT MEANS ANY PREMISES USED FOR THE PURPOSE OF 8 CARRYING ON OR EXERCISING ANY TRADE, BUSINESS, PROFESSION, VOCATION, OR 9 COMMERCIAL OR CHARITABLE ACTIVITY, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LAUN- 10 DRIES, HOSPITALS, AND FOOD OR RESTAURANT ESTABLISHMENTS. 11 S 2.
