         on Consumer Affairs and Protection
       AN  ACT  to  amend the general business law, in relation to establishing
         county databases of complaints regarding home improvement contractors
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. The general business law is amended by adding a new section
    2  771-b to read as follows:
    3    S 771-B. HOME IMPROVEMENT CONTRACTOR DATABASE. EACH COUNTY SHALL MAIN-
    4  TAIN  A  WEBSITE CONTAINING A DATABASE LISTING ALL COMPLAINTS THE COUNTY
    5  BUREAU OF CONSUMER  AFFAIRS  HAS  RECEIVED  REGARDING  HOME  IMPROVEMENT
    6  CONTRACTORS.  THE  DATABASE  SHALL BE SEARCHABLE BY THE HOME IMPROVEMENT
    7  CONTRACTOR'S NAME, AND SHALL CONTAIN THE NAME OF THE BUSINESS, THE  DATE
    8  OF  THE  WORK  PERFORMED, THE NATURE OF THE COMPLAINT, AND HOW THE ISSUE
    9  HAS BEEN RESOLVED.
   10    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
